Small Group Courses

MathSP uses previous test scores and/or diagnostic tests to form small groups of students with similar skill levels. Each student individually benefits from the small size while also learning and interacting with peers. Students work both independently and together to solve problems to ensure individual competence is met. Using the Facilitative Approach, instructors confirm understanding and concept mastery from each student. The small class size allows instructors to move at a comfortable pace for the group.  Furthermore, weekly scheduled Extra Help sessions outside of class time allow students additional time to ask questions, review homework problems, and understand their mistakes.

Features of Small Group Tutoring:
        • Classes comprised of four to eight students with similar goals and skill levels
        • Peer interaction which encourages exchange of knowledge and mastery of material
        • 28.5 hours of classroom learning plus weekly Extra Help tutorials outside of class time where students can interact with their instructor
        • Weekly homework assignments that revisit concepts, reinforce strategies, and evaluate your child’s understanding of course material
        • Homework review each session using the Facilitative Approach
        • Real practice test to simulate a realistic testing experience and to track improvement
